Batsaikha Ejinn

floating down a river, oars freed from their homes long ago.

About

Batsaikha is young, having seen only twenty-five summers, and an Au Ra standing at a solid seven fulms and six ilms. The Steppe did raise him, and as a result of this, he makes for a very disciplined and independent warrior. His clan seemed to believe otherwise, though, as he was born with scale shapes and the brightest eyes against cerulean skin, denoting that he would be a healer: a shaman of the waters, as his mother was, and her mother before her, and her mother before that too. A line of water shamans as long as anyone could remember, and young Batsaikha was fine with that at first, working with the tides, the ebb and the flow-- offering healing with the restorative properties of water. But his hands were too big, and he did not have that same touch that the women in his family seemed to have. That, and his interest seemed to be in big sticks and the idea of sinking ships. This was incredibly frowned upon, and more often than not the smallest of his hopes were dashed with harsh words and the disappearance of any (poorly made, mind you) weapons that he had crafted on his own were hidden or even broken and discarded much to a young boy's dismay. So, in a bold move, he ran-- well... swam. Away. From river to sea, and climbed aboard a trade ship as a VERY OBVIOUS clandestine traveler, some how hidden away from life as a shitty Sekiseigumi samurai-- some how hidden from life as a member of the Confederacy-- and some how, Batsaikha had found himself wandering about the lands of Hingashi, specifically Kugane, doing physical labor on Pier One with no more than an ornamental gourd full of water and the rags on his back.Batsaikha is a runaway in every sense of the word, from his home, from his responsibilities as a shaman. he might even admit it himself-- but he is old enough, mature enough to make his own decisions and adapt as water to the shape of a calabash in any given situation.

Batsaikha is... real big, real blue, with a prehensile tail, and two rows of very sharp teeth. He might just be a fish in a Xaela suit, and isn't exactly the most complex individual! He is generally so nonchalant and playful with those in his circle but he might tend toward being unsympathetic and cruel with folks that don't sit right with him, especially if these individuals intend to bring harm to his people. That being siad, Batsaikha is very confident in his (totally unrefined) abilities as a fighter, because clearly, fighting actual people is just the same as spear or bow-fishing.

RP Hooks

Well, if you're into reading and romance, you might find that Batsaikha fits the physical description of the main protagonist in the Romance On The Steppe novels (now translated in Xaelic as per his demand), written by Summer Belmayne. Feel free to pester him about it, and see how well he holds it together. He won't.

Batsaikha is a fiend for sugar, and has openly admitted that he might do just about anything if it means he'll have it. It isn't uncommon to see him with a lollipop, or buying what treats he can by the bag full. He might give you some if you ask. He might do anything if you offer it. Gil is also accepted, especially if it means fueling his sugary addiction.
